Jasmine Snags Winner's Bitch, Best of Winners and Both Majors At NESGA

Jasmine and Deb made a big splash at the NESGA shows. On Saturday
and Sunday, at the young age of 7 months, Jasmine earned Winner's Bitch,
Best of Winners, a 4 point and a 3 point major. Jasmine also earned
Best Puppy in Sweeps on Sunday and showed like a pro with Deb. We
are proud of our youngest new star at Seastar Kennel.

Sadie is Best Gun Dog and Veteran

At age nine Sadie is still fine. She took Best Veteran in Sweeps both
days at the NESGA shows as well as Best Gun Dog on Sunday. Jane and
Sadie got the show lead out for their club and enjoyed showing
in the group ring as well.

Magic Takes Best of Opposite at NESGA

Kaila and Magic worked hard to earn Best of Opposite
in a nice line up of Tollers at the NESGA shows. It
was great to see the team in action again. They
looked great together and certainly attracted Judge
Hilderman's attention

Lilly Wins Best of Breed at NESGA

Melissa and Lilly wowed judge Hilderman and took Best of Breed
in a large lineup of Tollers at the Sunday NESGA shows. In a
flawless performance, Lilly maintained her tradition of winning
at this particular show.

Seastar Shines at The New England Sporting Group Shows

All the Seastar entries excelled at the NESGA shows. On Sunday Lilly took Best of Breed, Magic went Best of Opposite, Sadie took Best Gun Dog,and Jasmine took Best of Winners and Best Puppy in Sweeps. Jasmine earned 2 majors and on Saturday Dasher earned a major and went Best Puppy in Sweeps. Hope and Gracie made the cut for Best of Breed so all our dogs got recognized. We were quite pleased as this was the largest show in the northeast since the National Specialty in Syracuse.

Sisters: Jasmine and Bell

Sisters Jasmine and Bell @ 6.5 months old
This is Bell (formerly Cinderella).. isn't she a cutie?

Jasmine and Bell again.

Debbie & Jasmine Show Ring Debut

Debbie and Jasmine (6.5 months old) made their show debut at the Hartford Civic Center. They both looked to be enjoying themselves and Jasmine was super! She took reserve winner's bitch (RWB) and thoroughly loved the attention and she ran round the ring. Right behind her was sister Bell (formely Cinderella)... Jasmine placed 1st, Cinderella 2nd in their class of 3. Way to go!
Both pups showed no fear of the ring or all the dogs, smells, people and noise. We are so proud.

This is a video of Nelia when she was about a year old.  She LOVEs to attack balloons and bubbles and has done it since she was a little baby.  She is now 2.5 years old but I just learned how to edit and upload videos.  Hope you enjoy!

Trini and Amanda's first Confirmation Class

Amanda, Trini's co-owner is thinking about handling Trini in the confirmation ring.  Last night both tried their hand at confirmation.  I had Amanda handle Nelia who is well trained in the ring and I handled Trini who went from hissy fits about having a slip/martingale lead on to having fun with all those "cookies".  That is Trini on the left with me and Nelia with Amanda on the right.  Thanks to Brad Trini's other half for taking some pictures and video.

Trini & Nelia

Trini (Seastar's Island Dream 4 Duckpin) came over to Nelia's (Seastars Serandipity 4 Duckpin) house for a visit and a grooming.  Trini received her first ear and foot grooming.  Of course she was not happy but lived to tell the tale.  The picture on the right is the finished product.

FUNDY'S FALL VACATION

FUNDY, formerly known as Pocahontas from the Gracie X Clipper litter, enjoyed her first trip to the Cape this past week. She had a blast playing with other dogs, retrieving her stick, and digging for clams! She is getting bigger by the minute and has quite the personality ... we love her! Hope all her sisters and brother (and their owners!) are doing well.

Gracie and Lola

Photo taken over Columbus Weekend 2008. Gracie (left) at 3 years 8 months old. Her Mom, Lola (right) at 6 years 5 months old.
Gracie has NO coat as she's still recovering from her first litter of pups and all her fur fell out. Lola is big and fluffy as ever.
They had a blast running around, chasing the geese and enjoying the fall weather.

Gracie's Beautiful Pups Arrive!

During the wee hours of Tuesday July 29th, our royal girl, Gracie (The Royal Grace of Seastar) whelped her first litter. She gave birth to 7 healthy puppies; 6 girls and 1 boy. The proud father is Clipper (Driftwood’s Coastal Clipper – with way too many titles and accomplishments for me to list, as I’m sure I’d forget something!).

We originally planned for a “Simpsons” themed litter but with so many beautiful girls, we had to re-think that strategy. In keeping with the puppies’ Mother & Grandmother’s (Seastar’s Princess Lola) official AKC names, we chose to theme this litter after Disney Royalty!

So introducing (with a short description of the Disney princesses they are named after):

Ariel (light blue): she is “feisty, headstrong and means to follow the rules but rarely succeeds”. Ariel is better known as The Little Mermaid.
Aurora (yellow): she is a “gentle, loving and thoughtful girl”. She is better known as Sleeping Beauty.
Belle (light purple): she is “loyal and kind with much patience… she has a natural, unaffected beauty”. Belle is the princess from Beauty & the Beast.
Cinderella (light pink): she is “keen, intelligent with true dignity, goodness and beauty”. Everyone knows Cinderella!
Jasmine (dark purple): she is “exotic, fiery, strong and independent” ... she is the princess from Aladdin.
Pocahontas (dark pink): she is “playful, free-spirited, loves adventure & excitement. She is curious and independent and in her story was nicknamed “little mischief”

The boy, well he is “PRINCE” (the puppy formerly known as “Bart”.. he has a dark blue ribbon). He is a striking boy, a deep dark red like his Dad and Grandfather (Reid).

Swimming with the Lily Pads

Summer in mid-swing and local swimming holes are getting lots of growth. Here is a fun picture of Lola retrieving a bumper in the midst of green.

Summer in Vermont

Diary excerpt from Jane:

Today I went for a long secluded walk in the reserve near my parent's house in Vermont (way out in nowhere land, near Canadian boarder). I went to Misquam Bay and what did I find - a Subway ball. You all would have loved to see me roll it about 3/4 miles to the van and then had to tie it into the back. The dogs give you an idea of what it is like. I am saving it for my sister, Laurie, because her client is Subway restaurants. How funny to be in the most remote place in Vermont and happen on this particular item, way out in the middle of nowhere. The dogs love it.

Whisky's First Points

On Saturday and Sunday (April 12&13), Hillscourt's Seastar Cuddlepie (aka Whisky) began his showing career in Warwick, RI alongside handler Kaila Smith. Both days Whisky earned 1 point by recieving Winners Dog, Best of Winners, and Best of Breed, therefore earning a total of 2 points that weekend. It was a great way for him to start off showing and we can't wait until his next show.

Sadie won the Breed, Best Veteran and Best Gun Dog at the recent
New England Sporting Group Association show on Sunday, March 16
in a large showing of Tollers. At age 8 she still shows well and is in
wonderful condition. Girls rule!

Sorry guys, my sad blogging skills are showing. I posted photos with no text. The photos below are of Seastar's Delyla (Lyla). She was showing off at a party this past summer and one of the guests snapped these great photos of her. She is a nutty girl, and very affectionate.
