Some Pics of Vedder

Here are some pics of Vedder as well from this past weekend. The one above with Vedder in action is my favorite.
Well, Laura told me eventually Vedder would get his sea legs and this past Memorial Day weekend was the culmination of me patiently waiting for Vedder to get there.

I was fishing on Lake Pocono with my friend Todd on his boat. Vedder was hanging out and taking it all in when suddenly he caught sight of a lure I had on my rod and just jumped off of the boat after it into the lake. It was amazing to see him just dive in and figure it out as soon as he hit the water.

We went ashore later that morning and I proceeded to throw sticks; which are Vedder's favorite thing to retrieve, into the lake. It was a complete transformation of his development from my stand point. He lost any inhibitions he had with the water with one quick leap of faith into Lake Pocono.

Here is a video of he and I playing together on the shore of Lake Pocono this past weekend:

Vermont Getaway Over Memorial Day

It's dog heaven up in Alburgh VT on Lake Champlain. Lola and Gracie enjoyed the freedom of lots of fields, rock beach and the lake. Plus they had the added excitement of hunting the resident red Fox and her 3 kits as well as they woodchuck that also appeared near their den. They would go screaming, literally, out the screen door, around the house and to the den over and over, all day long - hoping to catch the foxes. Thankfully, they remained unsuccessful in their hunt. They also followed me around in the kayak - I would go out on the lake and they would both swim next to me -- that tired them out GOOD! Hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend, we all certainly did up in Vermont.

Moses has reached the Promised Land

I adopted Moses on Thursday and he is the most adorable sweet dog. He loves his new family and is thrilled to have sophie ( a 4 year old Golden ) and snickers ( an 11 year old brown Lab). They are perfect together, although Sophie definitely tells Moses where her space is.
Moses loves running on the Golf course early in the am and went in swimming today. Sophie and he share a ball and Moses has no problem giving it to her and vice a versa.
we had our first training session yesterday, but Moses is so good already in coming, sitting and down. I am proud of him.
I am indebted to Jane for letting me have her dog- he is wonderful.

ROSIE: 6/10/96 - 4/2/10

ROSIE

AKC/NSTDRC (USA)/Can/ ARBA Grand Ch Driftwood’s Rose CD JH WCI VC Cgc

June 10, 1996 to April 2, 2010

Rosie came into my life 14 years ago as a family pet. I contacted Carol and Paul Milbury on the recommendation of Sue Van Sloun – all of whom, have become lifelong friends. I never imagined Rosie would become the foundation bitch for Seastar Kennel, earn a Best of Breed at the 2000 National Specialty and bring countless hours of joy through her 9 kids, numerous grandkids and a multitude of next generations. Her legacy has earned countless titles, Evelyn Williams Awards, Rusty Jones Awards, Invitations to Westminster, Crufts, Eukanuba and much more.

Rosie was unique – like other Tollers. She was a founding member of the BLBRC (Blind Leading the Blind Retriever Club) and was one of the first to earn the JH and WCI. Known as “Squeaky”, she brought Paul Botehlo to his knees and entertained the galley in his efforts to get her to come back. She did not like his truck so found her way to humble him.

Rosie earned many Championships. Her first was from the American Rare Breed Association where she earned multiple group placements and the ARBA Grand Championship. She went on to earn the AKC, NSDTRC (USA) and CKC CH. I enjoyed showing her exclusively.

Rosie provided puppies to my family & friends. My sister Laurie Warden and her husband Lundy, have Lola & Gracie; my brother John Warden has Zeus; my dear friends the Johnsons have Lexie & Winston; Lauren Cramer and Jim Baptiste have Zoey & Dasher: Christine and Rob Jones have Meadow & Finn; Ed and Michele McGrath have Derrie & Kelty; Deb Smith and her kids have Lilly & Jasmine, and the list forever grows…….it is an extended family of true friends. Sue Van Sloun, Marile Waterstraat, John Hamilton, Gretchen Botner, Lee Ann Gleason, Jean Gilroy, Deb Gibbs, Peggy Park, Sue Kish, Alison Strang and many more have helped mentor me to success. Thank you all.

Rosie died peacefully in my arms on April 2nd and is buried under a beautiful flowering tree overlooking the ocean. She will be remembered by many whose lives she touched and changed forever, including mine.

Do anyone else's Tollers watch TV??

Just got motivated to post a few pics of Fundy from a trip to the Cape in February ... she loves the beach!

Great photos!

Sweet, Happy Moses

A few pictures of Moses taken this weekend at Jane's house. He is a very sweet and happy puppy. He went for his first swim on Saturday -- he didn't even know he was swimming, he just really wanted that bumper! He carried it around in his mouth as we walked around. What a natural. Moses is formerly BammBamm from The Flintstones litter (and brother to Vedder below).

Gracie hunts up a deer leg... yuck

The other night, on our walk, Gracie went off into the woods. She was gone a long time which is unusual for her - she typically stays right near me. I called and called, nothing. Just as I started to get really worried, she came flying out of the woods with something in her mouth. At first Ithought it was a stick but as she came and sat in front of me, I realized it was no ordinary stick -- it had fur, a hoof and bones... It was a deer leg! Yuck... told her to drop it - she really didn't want to - but obeyed. She was so pleased with herself for being a deer hunter.

Samson and Lily on their snow adventure!

Hello everyone! My name is Kira Shenk and the new Mom of Seastar's Handsome Samson, previously known as "Barney".

Samson is loving life:-) Samson discovered his new love, snow. Samson has now enjoyed his first and second snow. The second snow fall was over a foot of snow, he had an absolute field day! He loves nothing more than to play in the snow and eat it. He also loved playing in the snow with his sister Lily. I am very excited as it is Samson's first Christmas, he has many presents this year:-) Thank you Jane and Laurie for the best Christmas present I could have ever asked for as I get to spend the holiday with the best little puppy ever!
Merry Christmas and Happy New year to everyone! I hope all of the families of Samson's brothers and sisters are having a great holiday season and are having a lot of fun with their puppy:-)

House of Two Tollers

Hello, All. We are the Youngs in California and the new family of Seastar's Queen Charlotte, previously known as "Wilma." Charlotte has made her peace with the older Toller here, Hyflyer's Madeleine, and is thoroughly enjoying her first snow. We hope that all of you are having as much fun with your puppies as we are having here in the mountains with ours.

Charlotte very much prefers to be outside in the snow, and will chase snowballs until our hands freeze!

Thank you Jane and Laurie for a such beautiful, playful and smart little addition to our family.

Kelty is a New Champion

Seastar's Dark 'n Stormy Kelty Fife finished his Championship in Providence with a specatular 5 point major going over two top five male specials and two top female specials from the Bred-By class under judge Edletraud Laurin. The next day judge Doug Johnson pulled him to the front as well commenting that the first 3 dogs were to die for placing Kelty in the same class as two of the top five Tollers this year. We were so very pleased as Kelty is only 1 1/2 years old. He looked marvelous.
